Eat Blueberries

Updated: Sep 28

Summer in the Great White North means sunshine, flip flops and fresh fruit. And the hands-down favourite in this house are blueberries. Aside from being jammed with flavour, blueberries are packed with vitamin C which has led experts to suggest that they can help fight off anxiety. As it turns out, vitamin C helps your body regulate cortisol, the stress hormone. When you're feeling overwhelmed, your body pumps out extra cortisol. When you eat blueberries, the vitamin C acts like a natural chill pill, reducing the amount of cortisol and helping your body ease up on the stress response [National Institutes of Health, https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminC-HealthProfessional/].

Whether you boil them down into a jam, add them into yogurt, or just enjoy them as is, your goal should be to eat more of them because they're really good for you.
